WHO

WHAT WE DO

We work closely with clients and support them in the design and development of strategies and policies to deliver meaningful impact from major sporting investment and events.

  • facilitating consultation, research and gathering insights

  • diagnosis and development of strategy and policy

  • lead generation and sourcing commercial sponsors and partners

  • writing funding applications and commissioning services

  • designing and developing projects, initiatives and interventions

  • evaluating impact, outcomes and return on investment

What

WE DO

The sports industry is changing and brands, rights holders and investors in sport, across the public and private sector, wish to see more than economic return on investment or advertising value equivalent. They want to connect at a deeper level and make a difference to individuals, communities and wider society.

Whether investment is being channeled through hosting of a major international sporting event, the development of a new facility, through commercial sponsorship deals or public funding investment, all too often we have seen and heard great promises of ‘Legacy’ being made.

Legacy is often promised when selling the dream of hosting a major event or at the start of a commercial partnership. Usually at the funding stage when bids are being written and ambitious pitches delivered. In our experience Legacy is always someone else’s job and often falls short.

We started Sporting Impacts because we share a desire to do things differently. We want to redefine the way we think about achieving lasting and meaningful impact from major investment in sport.

We support our clients in achieving greater social, cultural and environmental impact from their investment.

HOW WE DO IT

Sporting Impacts specialises in connecting the Intention with the Impact.

intention - what are you trying to achieve?

insight - where are you now and where do you want to be?

inspiration - what’s the spark to get people involved?

interventions - what can they get involved in and how?

infrastructure - where and who with?

impact – how will you know you have achieved it?

HOW

We work closely with our partners and think clearly about the intention or ambition at the start of a project.

We use our insight and experience to diagnose the problem and adopt a strategy that truly fits and makes sense.

We design interventions to ensure that investment is directed to achieve meaningful and sustainable sporting impacts.

We help measure and evaluate the outcomes to better advocate and celebrate success.

Changing Lives: the social impact of participation in culture and sport.

14th May 2019

“….arguably the most important finding from this enquiry is that there is no dispute about the positive social impact of participation in culture and sport. The question then is, why isn’t more done across Government to harness the power of culture and sport to address long standing social problems?

How do you harness the power of sport to inspire and change lives for positive outcomes to individuals, communities and wider society?

How can we broker cross governmental support to co-invest in the inputs to achieve the desired outcomes?

What role, if any, do we wish funders - often local, regional and national government  - to play in ensuring the structures and frameworks are in place?
